Fire and Ice

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if I had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

  1. For Creative Writing we had to memorize poems every week and this is the one I memorized during Robert Frost week.

I went to see Eclipse last week and in one of the first scenes Bella was trying to memorize this poem. I got really excited of course because I know it.

Anyway, I'm not entirely sure why this poem is at the beginning of the story and I can't even remember if it's at the beginning of the book (I read the book a while ago). Maybe it's Edward v Jacob, like ice v fire, and something to do with ending Bella's life...but I'm not sure. Unless it's just a random poem, but I hope it's not and actually means something.
